LTUE

I will be at Life, The Universe, and Everything! in two weeks. It’s held in Provo, Utah, and I am not going as a panelist, just an attendee. But if you will be there, let me know and we’ll try to catch up! I plan on being in a lot of panels taking notes, and meeting up with friends while I’m there.

Life, the Universe, & Everything: The Marion K. “Doc” Smith Symposium on Science Fiction and Fantasy originated at Brigham Young University and has grown and changed a lot over the last thirty years. LTUE is a three-day academic symposium on all aspects of science fiction and fantasy. Comprised of panels, presentations and papers on writing, art, literature, film, gaming and other facets of speculative fiction, LTUE is a place to learn all about life, the universe, and everything else you love.

I decided I was going to go after Brad Torgerson kept urging me to attend, but my favorite editor, Toni Weisskopf of Baen Books, will be there as GOH, and Larry Correia, writer of Very Good Fun books, and Howard Tayler, creator of my favorite webcomic Schlock Mercenary (also, his wife Sandra, who I am looking forward to meeting. She has written a lovely children’s book my kids liked a lot, and she is very involved behind the scenes with the business of Schlock, an impressive lady).

Looking through the schedule, I saw a lot of things that interested me. Sadly, the funniest one, a My Little Pony panel with Larry Correia on it, turns out to be a joke. I was looking forward to weaponized ponies! But the Fight Scenes panel with the Correiaken on it is not to be missed. I will of course have camera in hand, and will be uploading photos to the blog (I’m assuming the hotel has wifi, I really ought to check!) daily, as well as an AAR after the whole thing.

If you’re going to be there, and you want a signed book from me, let me know now. I am not currently planning on carrying any with me, other than a couple I want to have signed for myself by other authors, and I’m flying, so not carrying a lot with me. But if I know you want something, I’ll make it happen.
