LibertyCon, Reading, and a Book Bomb

Now, there’s an explosive mixture!

LibertyCon 27

I will be at LibertyCon in TN next week at this time. My First Reader and I arrive sometime Thursday for gatherings pre-con with friends, and the fun starts Friday. We’ll be leaving Sunday almost immediately after the Young Adult Fiction workshop Sarah Hoyt and I will be riding herd on. So… a little after noon. Anytime in between there you can find me at a scheduled event, or in the BFC. You’ll be seeing more about the convention next week, and my usual AAR shortly after the end.

If you will be at LibertyCon and want a copy of one of my books (titles in print are Vulcan’s Kittens, Pixie Noir, Trickster Noir, and The Eternity Symbiote) let me know, please. I will be offering them signed and personalized for either $10 or $12 (depending on the title). I don’t have a table, they were sold out before I knew I’d want to do this. I’m trying to decide how many to lug down there! Also, I will be signing on Friday at 4:00 pm and I will have handsome postcards with me for that purpose, if you prefer an ebook or just want my scrawl for some reason (doodles available on request  ). See you all next week!

How do you read? If you want tips and tricks on reading ebooks, curating a digital library, or learning how best to choose an ereader, hop on over to my Mad Genius Club post today. I’d love to hear what works for you, and how you back-up your library against format changes and seller’s going out of business. Never be left out of reading material again!

Book Bomb

I’ll qualify this by saying that I haven’t read this book, and I’m unlikely to do so. Not my cup of tea. However, I did read the book he wrote this in response to, out of morbid curiosity. I was very sorry… I knew it was bad when people kept telling me how historically accurate Dan Brown was. (heavy deep sigh… then a primal scream) So yeah, if that book made you sick, this one might be the cure.

A Pius Man

by Declan Finn

If Dan Brown were written by Brad Thor or Vince Flynn, slipping facts in-between bombs and bullets.

As the head of Vatican security, Giovanni Figlia must protect a new, African Pope who courts controversy every other day. The Pope’s latest project is to make Pius XII, “Hitler’s Pope,” a saint. Things haven’t gotten better since the Pope employed American mercenary Sean Ryan.

Then a body fell onto the Vatican doorstep.

Soon, a pattern emerges– people who go into the Pius XII historical archives are dying. Each time, a priest has been in the background– a priest close to the Pope. One of the victims was an al-Qaeda operative, drawing Scott “Mossad” Murphy of Israeli intelligence to Rome.

Soon, Ryan, Murphy and Figlia must join forces to unravel the mystery around the Vatican, as even the man Giovanni is supposed to protect looks like a suspect. To get out of this alive, they must discover if Hitler’s Pope was a Nazi collaborator, or a pious man.
