Sense of Wonder

I’m not a great artist, and I never will be. But sometimes I just have to try and portray what’s in my head… this fractal cried out for a spaceship, an explorer, and a sense of wonder at some alien architecture of a distant place and time.

A far-off visit

It looks like it could be inside of a hollowed-out asteroid or something.

    1. For the world is hollow and I have touched the sky.

  2. Working on keeping that sense of “I want to get what’s in my head out here” without hitting the failure wall with our second girl–her sister is quite confident, but the Duchess measures against the image in her head.

    1. I get really frustrated at times with my inability to put what’s in my head down on paper/on screen. I’ll probably never be happy with the results, but I don’t let that stop me. I can look back at my progress. I can see I am getting better. So I’ll keep trying. But I know had I pushed harder, as a kid, I’d have been the better for it by now. So tell her to keep pushing.

      1. She’s still in the “I will shoot for the moon!” stage; our theory is that if she has a smaller gap between her visualized goal and what is on the paper in front of her, she’ll do better. I know she’s willing to keep trying for longer when it’s something like “here, practice drawing eyes.”

        1. That’s a good way to start. Hm. I need to look at something.

          1. Elf has them working from a ‘How To Draw Manga’ set– the current drive was triggered by the Princess reading your Fairy Little Sister and both wanting to draw a character like the cover.

            1. Fun! That cover was drawn for me by a young friend.

        2. Check out Draw a Box for her. If you think it might be helpful, I’ll buddy with her – I’ve been meaning to do the course anyway. https://drawabox.com

          1. Right now, it’s a way to bond with daddy. <3

            1. And that is perfect <3

  3. Reminds me of __diamond dogs_ a novella I read 15 years ago. No dog in it but.
