Restoration

There are things in this world we must do. For me, that is a walk in the woods. I slowly go to pieces if I can’t get out there, preferably alone, and just… walk. I can feel the weight slipping off me, falling behind, and when I come out again I’m ready to face whatever has to be done. It’s been a long few months, not doing this. I always convince myself it’s selfish to steal the time to take these walks, and really, I need to stop doing that to myself. It’s not selfish. I’m not stealing from my family. I’m giving them a stronger Cedar who had to retreat, refresh, and refill.

Sometimes you have to do something for yourself before you can keep giving everyone else what they want and need.

Walk with me, bothering armadillos, butterflies, and magnificent dinosaurs herons… That link will take you to a photo album. I only had my cell phone on me (Bad Cedar) but next time I will do better.

Hackberry Emperor (Asterocampis celtis)
There was a rustle, which I assumed was a squirrel, but when I looked, it wasn’t!

Sometimes just getting away from the apartment helps.

Walking my Beagle Lilly not so much. When I go walking I want to walk. Lilly loves to stop and sniff. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. I ramble with camera in hand. It’s good when it’s hot and I’m trying to keep myself from overheating.

  2. There’s a little trail, called Lemon Trail, tucked in just below the rim of Lemon Hill (on which sits Lemon Hill Mansion, 1798), right at the end of our street, that is less than 100 yards from very busy Kelly Dr., but feels like you’re in the middle of the woods. I like wandering through there.

    1. BTW, I love the photos.

    2. That sounds lovely, right down to the name!

  3. You are restoring your fans who get to walk with you in spirit. I haven’t seen an armadillo al fresco in decades. ๐Ÿ™‚

Astonishing the animals that live inside our urban areas, and survive!
